Involvement in philanthropy events at UA is a major focus for Alpha Gam sisters!

Visit our blog, "Never Alone" to read more about our recent Silent Auction and first ever 5K Run!

Alpha Gamma Delta International was the first sorority to establish a national philanthropy.  Psi chapter sisters are very involved in raising funds to support DIABETES AWARENESS and EDUCATION!  In addition, we participate in a variety of charitable events sponsored by other organizations on campus.

Each year, we host a COOKOUT with Phi Gamma Delta. Everyone has a great time grilling while benefiting a great cause!

We host our PARENTS' WEEKEND and SILENT AUCTION every spring. It's always a great time with wonderful food and entertainment for the parents. The event is held at The University Club and we dance the night away raising funds for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation.  This year we held our first ever 5K during the weekend.

This past year, we had many other philanthropic events. Some of these included a CRAWFISH BOIL with Beta Theta Pi and Apha Tau Omega and a BENEFIT CONCERT with Sigma Nu featuring a country band from Atlanta.

In the wake of the devastating tornado that hit Tuscaloosa in April of 2011, our sisters went into action and held a CLOTHING DRIVE at our house. We collected gently used clothing from Greek members across campus. At the house, we sorted the items by gender, size and type of clothing. We had an amazing response and donated over 150 bags of clothing to drop off sites in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham.

ALPHA GAMMA DELTA INTERNATIONAL PHILANTHROPY

Through community service and awareness efforts, there's no doubt that Alpha Gams are impacting the world. Our members feel a deep connection to civic involvement and are compelled to play an active role in our diverse society. Alpha Gamma Delta's chosen philanthropic focus is diabetes awareness and education.  Diabetes affects our members and their friends, families and acquaintances at an astounding rate, and as a sisterhood, we have the unique opportunity to look to each other for support and education.

The Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation provides grants that support members and other individuals living with diabetes. Financial support is also offered to members in emergency situations. Volunteer and leadership training opportunities are provided through Foundation funding as well. Overall, the Foundation impacts and enriches our communities by providing essential support for education, philanthropy and leadership.
