Our rich tradition is stronger today than ever!  We take pride in being a member of First Circle as we were the second sorority house built at the Capstone.  Psi was the first Alpha Gam chapter in the state of Alabama.

Since 1921, Psi has enabled women to excel in whatever path they choose.  Psi sisters are leaders in the classroom and on campus and alumnae are equipped to carry on this same success after graduation.

Values learned through sisterhood in Psi greatly enhance each student’s personal and professional development.  Being an Alpha Gam at UA leaves a lasting impression.  Memories and friendships that are developed last a lifetime, and the experiences are remembered long after college days are past.

National History

Back on a May evening in 1904, on the campus of Syracuse University, eleven young women pledged their faith, loyalty and dedication to an organization that they called Alpha Gamma Delta. Today, more than 100 years later, the Fraternity is composed of more than 160,000 sisters. In 1919, Alpha Gamma Delta became international with the addition of Tau chapter at the University of Toronto. There have been 182 installed chapters of Alpha Gamma Delta since its founding in 1904.
